Powershot G9 Slow-worm (Blindschleiche)
During a short trip to Northern France we made a few nice walks. Travelling light the G9 proved an ideal companion again. In the middle of a forest we met this guy.
Luckely this snake-like creature (it isn't a real snake, size about 35 cm) lives upon his name, the headshot was made using the "in camera" macro mode at a distance of just a few cm's. (Don't try this with real snakes!) Normally i don't like the wide angle macro mode and use a work around for this but know it was quite handy.

Best regards,
Rob

Re: Powershot G9 Slow-worm (Blindschleiche)
Rob,
Thanks to present this. Long time since I saw one alive (albeit only on a picture). There was a time that when you went in the woods, with a bit of attention you were bound to see one.
Last I found was about 2 years ago, lying dead on the forest track. Looked like it was killed by a heavy foot, possibly by someone unnecessarily in panic ...
Nice 'head-shot' , shows again what those G's can do in capable hands.
Best
Paul

(Unfortunately most people don't know nothing about snake and snake-like creatures and kill them for what so ever reason. In Greece there is a snake-like creature called "Scheltopusik" it is up to 2 m long and is related to lizards. This beautiful animal is totally harmless to people and very welcome because it eats a lot of insects, mice etc. Still i've seen them many times killed by the local people (and tourists as wel...) Even with real snakes there is less to worry about, most are not dangerous for us people and most of them will avoid contact with people and fortunately will be gone long before we will see them.)
Nice 'head-shot' , shows again what those G's can do in capable hands. (Thank you for the compliments, i will tell my hands about it, they will be pleased :-)
Best
