Tower of London sunset

Post by Simon.fairclough on Thu 25 Jun - 16:35:58

Comment if you want, just thought I'd show some shots, both were shot from the same place top is at 220mm and bottom at 11mm. (X 1.5 to give you the FX focal length)

From 2009 06 20" alt="" />
This one has had some distortion control.
I know you can't see the Tower of London, I try not to do those shots.

Hi Simon

Its difficult to comment. I see only one picture, building on the righ with a crane on the left. In terms of placing pic's, why do you not try Fotki.com....they also provide a service of hosting and linking pics....

In terms of the picture....no real subject I think....the building is too dominant.....I do not know what crop could be best....

In terms of straightening the pic....great job, it came out perfect.

The exposure is great, the silhouette effect is great plus the clouds plus colors are good.

I hope I interpreted the picture correctly....

I see the 2nd

Post by Siegfried on Mon 29 Jun - 20:33:08

I like the way you framed it using a wide angle I guess... Interesting looking at the 1st picture on another screen I could see details in the shade which changed the character of the picture completely......therefor as a silhouette its too dominant as said and as a shaded picture really interesting....

Tel me please, what do I miss... Very Happy

The only point is both taken from the same spot.
I liked the 1st shot as a cityscape, the second was just to show the spot mainly because it will be different soon I like to have a record.

Heres the 2nd shot brighter and the 1st shot ringed in red.
The arrow points to the Gherkin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/30_St_Mary_Axe
The old building is the Tower of London overlooking the moat.

Placing your pics

Post by Siegfried on Tue 30 Jun - 20:06:22

Interesting, on my Windows PC I can only see the first, silhouette picture. I cannot see the second. On the Mac I see both without any problem,

If you place a pic on dpr then one should take care to start the string with http....and end the string with jpg If you look at the complete link you get from google then you see info infront of the http and behind the jpg

This could be your problem posting pics.....

Simon, I asked my son what he sees in your pics....his 1st reaction was I like the first one, a great silhouette he said. My 1st feedback was a little strong, apologies for that

Best
