Hello folks

I have been spending time researching different options with regards forum, blogs, public meeting rooms, facebook and many more. At the end the current service I use seems to be amongts the best out there and I will continue with them unless somebody can show me a better service...

That said I also considered starting a complete new forum and in the process give up the history we created....

Again not a good idea. That means I like to take the existing and re-design ...

I do not know if its such a great idea but yes I did it.... Remember a while back I indicated that I am thinking doing something with my desktop. Well I was lucky to get hold of a Vista Home copy at a really good price and I took it.

This weekend I took an old 80GB SATA HD I had in my box and started installing Vista. Make no mistake it was a loooooong job and the updates plus drivers update did take a really long time. At one stage I though....no I will not make it....

Its running ...

My brother in law had the brilliant idea to buy my mother in law a digital camera for her birthday.

She does take pictures on a regular basis with the film P&S I bought her a number of years ago, so she is not fully unfamiliar with taking pictures, but still ...

In fact, have to correct the title, because she is already great grandmother.

So, before having to decide afterwards it was a mistake, I gave her my old IXUS 500 ...

This is an old way of doing your strap so I can't claim the idea for my own, but as I was changing my old strap for a new one I thought this might be of use?

I hope you can see that I have tucked the lead end of the strap through the buckle so it returns towards the camera instead of pointing back up to the neck, once this is pulled up tight you have a much neater finish for your strap, it looks much better on the G7/9/10 small size strap. I think it holds better as well. (can't get the images ...

Most modern camera's and lenses nowadays are equipped with stabilizers like the one in the Canon Powershot G9. This stabilizer is quite powerful but as all stabilizers it has it limits. The chance of getting a sharp picture at 0,3 sec and a focal length of 35mm is very limited, even with IS. Looking at the graphs at Dpreview i estimate the chance of a perfect sharp image about 1 out of 10.

Last summer i started to use a new technique to get sharper pictures at low light situations without going ...

I have been looking for a way to carry less gear when I am out shooting.

All the bags I have seen are OK, very expensive or are just too specialised. You can get cases and bags for DSLRs P&S that do just that carry a DSLR or a P&S and cost about $20. Then you move up to a camera bag/rucksack/backpack and I have a couple of these. they are fine but I always end-up packing them full of lenses, so they become very heavy.

This weekend I went out to see what was in the shops that might ...

This (other than the Sigg water bottle and Canon G9 which is taking this image) is my daily walk bag. Over the past 2 years and 4 months my wife and I have walked daily after work and on the weekends….we have not missed a day yet. Much of the year we are walking in the dark after work, but weekends and from late spring to early fall we have some daylight. Our path is either along Lake Washington or the Sammamish Slough which feeds into Lake Washington. Herons, Ducks, Geese, Beaver, ...

I always carry a small light that is very handy for camera setups on those early mornings or late evenings. I have used a multitude of small penlights over the years and just recently a friend sent my one of these New Fenix E01 models. It takes only one AAA battery and puts out plenty of light for setting up camera controls or even walking a decent trail. It is just a tiny bit larger than the battery itself, waterproof, light weight and well made.

At about $15 it is a bargain too.
