What is your preferred Kit........

Post by Siegfried on Sun 21 Jun - 18:59:33

Its weekend, you about to go out and you see everything is just perfect for taking pictures. You can only take your camera, one lens plus another item (tripod, flash, another lens, reflector). What will you take and why......you welcome to show us your lightweight travel bag......

Siegfried,

A difficult question indeed, which takes a lot of consideration.

A flash? If the conditions are that perfect, no not really. The internal flash can cover as fill in flash on short distance ...

Another lens? The 17-85 (24-135mm) covers a lot already and the for the rest, the feet will have to do ...

A tripod? The IS works fine and with a bit of imagination, you're bound to find some support ...

???!!!???

I would probably trow the G7 in the bag, just to make sure I have a back-up in case the 1000d goes dead again ... or ... perhaps even better, take the wife along with her little PS 720is, lightweight as I would not have to carry either of them ...

Best

If I was going somewhere where I planned on using the camera quite a bit then the E30/14-54. This lens generally covers 90% of my shots anyways. The pop-up flash, while not great, is good enough for those times a flash is needed (fill flash, etc.).
If I wanted something lighter, then I would either take the E30 with the 25mm lens (makes the camera feel MUCH lighter) or take the E420 with either the kit 14-42 or the 25mm.
(Soon I am hoping to be able to take the EP1 and probably the FL20 since there is no built in flash and I don't plan on getting the new flash immediately.)

Hi Paul

Awesome picture....I like the way you captured the available light plus how you used the flash to compliment your wife into the scene....like a master....

Steve you know that I bought the 18 - 180 while back. Well it seems to me if this lens was ever a "weak" link then all it required was the new gen bodies. Fitted to my E420 it becomes a awesome lens....all I ever wanted;-)

A few times I took just to much with and ended up carrying to much and to heavy. I therefor have a fav bag and I carefully consider each item I take with based on a specific list of pics I want for the day..... Sounds a little strange maybe.....but being not comfortable is also not fun.....

Any other views?
