Re: Did I edit too much...?
It's hard to see on a screen but I think you are pushing too hard on the levels.
straighten the curve a bit.
I like the 1st shot very much.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the kind feedback, yes these pics have been edited a little aggressive, partly because I wanted some feedback. I think the method I used to edit is reasonably advanced. I edited the pics in parts and then combined them in layers. Therefor its difficult to generally find the over saturation or curves for example. Another aspect is color calibration. Recently I found different PC's I work on has different results....
Erik thanks for being back, we are glad to have you here....its great to have ALL the guys back and to enjoy the great company we always had....
Please drop me a mail regards the accident and the pain you have....I have a similar situation....

Re: Did I edit too much...?
Siegfried,
While I like both of the shots (the first one more than the second BTW) I agree with Simon that either the tone curves or the saturation (especially in the first one) might have been a little bit overdone. Though without having being there it's hard to tell. Generally (at least here in NYC) colors are not quite that vibrant. (Maybe it's the air where you live???)

Re: Did I edit too much...?
Hi Simon
I thought the sky is OK because it was edited separate to the landscape below. I pushed the landscape to much...? Simon, lets try another...
Steve, my son showed me a method using LR to edit parts of the pic separate....I can easily fall madly in love with LR...wonder why it did not work before for me?

Re: Did I edit too much...?
Siegfried,
What is 'over-edited'? Everyone can see that it are not 'natural' pictures. It clearly shows that the pictures are edited. Tends a bit to 'impresionism'. Often I like that more than pictures which are 'over-corrected', where the author tried to make us believe the shot was made like that and where anyone with a bit of experience knows it wasn't.
Anyhow, like them both with a slight preference for the second (certainly for the detail contained in it).
On the other hand, dispite the contradiction between the bright foreground and the rather heavy clouded sky, the first picture gives me that feeling we had when we were young kids, lying in the fields on a summer's day, looking at the crops and the clouded skies (only, we did not have any mountains down here). Everything looked more dramatic at that age and 'memories' tend to intensify those feelings ...
Both pictures were certainly worth being presented.

Re: Did I edit too much...?
Hi Paul
Thanks for your kind feedback. I think you saw them well. I did try something different. I tried something different on a similar pic I have to the 1st one. I edited the details in front on a one to one basis creating a little scene on its own in the front and then when you look up the rest unfolds.....just playing

I assume he introduced you to the brushes? Yeah they are great. One of the major complaints about LR 1 was that any adjustments were global. They added the brushes and gradients to LR 2 because of those comments. They are almost as good as layers in PS, possibly not as controlable but certainly more user friendly.

I agree with the layers comparison. I have CS4 school version and I noticed the same brush in the RAW converter.
Must say I am a layers guy.....
