Lightroom 3 beta
Having fun with LR 3 B.
This looked like a ordinary to boring shot, its shot in flat light, and needed some light to give it shine and modeling, I would use flash if I was to re-shoot. So lets give it a tweak in LR3 beta. I won't got through the settings I used because I just tried them all till it started to look nice. The main factor was fill light slider that made the most difference.
Before;

After; Hhhmmmmm, shiny!

Its a bit like Camera RAW but has a few more tweaks and one can do spot removal. Maybe I get this when its released instead of PSE8?
In the meantime its a free download so give it a try.

This is what I settled for for my flickr page. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2761/4068563840_512b0367b4_o.jpg

Re: Lightroom 3 beta
Simon,
I like your photo! The perspective is great and the LR3 Beta enhancement really appeals to me. I haven't used LR, but you have certainly piqued my interest. Thanks!

Re: Lightroom 3 beta
Simon,
WOW - that is some difference between the two. I have been using LR since it's initial release and was always amazed at how well the fill light did in situations like this.
I had the beta of LR3 installed and played with it a bit. But since (1) it would not import a catalog from previous versions and (2) no one knows if any changes you make in the beta version will even be kept in the final release, I decided to stick with 2.5 for the time being. But I will admit that what I did play with, I was impressed with the improvements over 2.5 (Though I will also admit that most of them should be more classified as "tweaks/improvements", but nice none the less.)

Re: Lightroom 3 beta
Simon the recovery you managed is by far better then the best I have seen or managed myself to date, really awesome....
I am also amaized at what comes out the "shadow" with the D700.
I agree LR is extremely powerful but I wonder if the result would have been that good with my E3 for example....
What are the main differences to LR version 3. Are there unique new functions or is it a normal evolution to the existing version which is already very powerfull....
Best

LR3b I think is just an evolution of 2, but as this is the first copy of LR I have used I don't know, but it works good YA?
Yes there is a lot in the files one can get from a D700.
